Israeli airstrikes hit several oil storage facilities in Tehran and the nearby city of Karaj late Saturday, causing massive fires and thick smoke across parts of the Iranian capital.
The attacks are the first confirmed strikes on Iran’s oil infrastructure since the war involving Iran, Israel, and the United States escalated.
The conflict enters its ninth day and continues to affect global energy markets and maritime trade routes, especially around the Strait of Hormuz.
Explosions were reported in several areas of Tehran after Israeli forces targeted fuel storage depots and energy facilities in the capital and nearby regions.
Iran’s Ministry of Oil confirmed that several storage sites in Tehran and Alborz provinces were struck.
Iranian media said at least four oil storage facilities and one oil production transfer center were hit. The reported sites include:
- Aghdasieh oil warehouse in northeast Tehran
- Tehran refinery complex in the southern district of Shahr Rey
- Shahran oil depot in western Tehran
