MIS Launches Inaugural Shipping Summit in Athens

Maritime Information Services (MIS) is gearing up to welcome the global maritime community to Athens for the first-ever MIS Shipping Summit, taking place 10–12 February 2026 at the Radisson Blu Park Hotel.

The event arrives at a pivotal moment for the industry. Geopolitical uncertainty, rising costs, shifting regulations, the push to decarbonise, and the rapid spread of digital tools are forcing companies to rethink how they operate. The Summit has been designed as a focused forum where executives can share perspectives, explore emerging trends, and consider practical solutions to the challenges shaping the future of shipping.

The programme features keynote sessions, panel discussions, TED-style talks, and case studies covering the sector’s most pressing themes, including decarbonisation, alternative fuels, cybersecurity, digital transformation, operational risk, and new approaches to financing. Each session aims to deliver practical takeaways and encourage open, informed debate.

A key element of the Summit is its emphasis on meaningful networking. In addition to the content programme, delegates will have multiple opportunities to connect through a welcome drinks reception, networking breakfasts, dedicated breakouts, working lunches, and an informal hosted dinner. The format is intentionally intimate, encouraging genuine conversation and enabling participants to build new relationships and strengthen existing ones.

Athens provides a fitting backdrop. As the home of the world’s largest commercial fleet and a hub of maritime expertise, Greece brings both heritage and relevance to the conversation. Its capital is easy for international guests to reach, and the venue sits close to both the airport and city centre, making the experience as seamless as possible.

The Summit will bring together a broad mix of voices from across shipping, including shipowners, carriers, technology innovators, alternative fuel providers, insurers, financial institutions, advisors, researchers, and policymakers. Bringing these groups into the same room is part of the event’s purpose: to encourage open dialogue and spark new ideas about where the industry is heading.

This launch event also marks the start of MIS’s 2026 programme, which will continue throughout the year with a series of more focused forums designed to keep the conversation moving.
