In his final customary Sunday social media post before the summer break, Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis addressed a range of pressing national issues, offering a comprehensive overview of recent government initiatives and accomplishments.

Digital Work Card

A key point in the Prime Minister’s message was the expansion of the digital work card, now covering nearly two million employees, including those in tourism and hospitality. Mitsotakis highlighted its major impact, citing a 1,000% jump in declared overtime in tourism, a 130% rise in food services, and 1.7 billion euros in added tax revenue.

He also praised the transformation of the Labor Inspectorate into an Independent Authority, which has led to more inspections and fines. The ERGANI database reported a 25-year high in job creation and a 75% rise in full-time private sector contracts.

Infrastructure

On infrastructure, Mitsotakis announced the completion of the long-delayed 65 km Patras–Pyrgos highway, with the final 10 km due by year’s end. Launched in 2007, the project faced major delays and saw 81 deaths on the old road. “We did the obvious—and we will keep doing it,” he said.
