Ruling New Democracy (ND) party on Thursday saw an increase in voters’ support, according to the most recent Metron Analysis poll conducted for Mega TV and presented on the nationwide channel’s primetime newscast. The development comes amid ongoing military operations and outright warfare in the Middle East.
However, respondents’ concerns over inflation and the lingering impact of alleged political scandals continue to fuel anti-government sentiment.
Specifically, conservative ND was favored by 23.8% of respondents in the poll. Main opposition PASOK remains in second place and far behind the leading party, at 10.4%. Third and fourth place are held by two Eurosceptic parties, one on the far left, and the other on the far right, respectively: Zoe Konstantopoulou’s Plefsi Eleftherias (Course of Freedom) at 8%, and the Elliniki Lysi (Greek Solution) party, at 6.8%.
Another four parties, two currently represented in Parliament, and two not represented, are given support above 3% – the threshold as a share of a general election (of valid ballots) required for Parliament representation. The figure that combines the undecided vote, blank/invalid and “no intention to vote” is roughly 24%.
