Regional office furniture company files for Chapter 11 bankruptcy
The debtor hired a joint venture of liquidators, consisting of SB360 Capital Partners, Hilco Global, and Gordon Brothers, to hold going-out-of-business sales with discounts of up to 50% off of original prices.
And now, the furniture downturn has hit the office furniture sector with a significant bankruptcy filing.
VMI Furniture Solutions files bankruptcy
Office furniture services, logistics, and installation company VMI Furniture Solutions LLC filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy to reorganize its business and continue operating.
The Chesapeake, Va.-based company filed its petition in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Virginia in Norfolk on Feb. 19, listing $100,000 to $1 million in assets and liabilities, according to Public Access to Court Electronic Records as reported by BankruptcyObserver.
VMI offers office furniture services
VMI Furniture Solutions will order, receive, decommission, reconfigure, deliver, relocate, and install office furniture throughout Washington, D.C., Maryland, Virginia, and San Antonio, Texas, according to its website
The 17-year-old company, which operates out of offices in Maryland, Virginia, and Texas, is licensed, insured, and bonded with several business certifications, including Small Women and Minority-owned certification through the Virginia Department of Small Business & Supplier Diversity.

VMI Furniture Solutions holds four certifications from the U.S. Small Business Administration and two from the U.S. Department of Defense.
"Supplying knowledgeable installers, superior customer service, and the latest knowledge about the office environment and commercial furniture has fueled the growth of VMI," the company said on its website.
