DH Shipbuilding secures KRW 1.02 trillion in orders within two months

DH Shipbuilding has recorded a strong start to the year, securing a series of Suezmax crude oil tanker orders that have rapidly lifted its order intake.

On 6 February, the company confirmed additional contracts for two Suezmax-class crude oil tankers from a Marshall Islands–based shipowner. The latest deal follows earlier contracts for four vessels in mid-January and two more in late January, bringing the total number of Suezmax tankers ordered this year to eight.

With these contracts, DH Shipbuilding accounts for 62% of global Suezmax tanker orders placed so far this year, out of a worldwide total of 13 vessels.

The shipowner behind the most recent order first signed with DH Shipbuilding in November last year and returned with a follow-up order just three months later, underlining strong confidence in the yard’s performance and delivery capability.

Each vessel is priced at approximately KRW 129 billion, above the recent market average for comparable Suezmax tankers, reflecting the yard’s ability to command premium pricing alongside volume growth.

As of February, DH Shipbuilding’s cumulative order intake has reached approximately KRW 1.02 trillion in just two months, fulfilling around 70% of its annual order target.

The two newly contracted vessels are scheduled for delivery in August 2028 and December 2028, respectively.
