Emirates Shipping suspends Sun Chief Express service
Emirates Shipping has suspended its Sun Chief Express service, ending its only direct Transpacific connection, according to DynaLiners.
The service was operated in cooperation with logistics provider UWL and connected key ports in Southeast Asia with the U.S. Pacific Northwest.
Originally launched in 2022 by Swire Shipping, the service was taken over by Emirates Shipping in 2025. Plans had been in place to upgrade the service to a weekly frequency in June 2026.
Prior to its suspension, the Sun Chief Express operated on a rotation linking Hai Phong, Ho Chi Minh City, Shekou and Seattle before returning to Hai Phong.
The suspension marks a withdrawal of Emirates Shipping from the Transpacific trade lane, where the service had provided a niche connection between Vietnam, South China and the United States.
