Liberian Registry launches digital seafarer platform with mobile app and e-documents
The Liberian Registry has launched a new digital platform for seafarers, introducing electronic documents and a dedicated mobile application aimed at improving efficiency and accessibility.
Seafarers working on Liberian-flagged vessels will now receive electronic versions of their official documents. These include Seaman’s Books, licenses, certificates and records of sea service. The documents are accessible through SEA360, the Registry’s new mobile app.
The application is available on both Apple App Store and Google Play. Seafarers with existing documentation can also request access to their digital records.
The electronic documents carry QR codes for instant verification. Authorities such as Port State Control officers and company representatives can check credentials directly through the Registry’s system.
Alongside the launch, the Registry has upgraded its Seafarer Electronic Application system. It is now integrated into a new Seafarer Portal, which connects application processing, medical certification and training programs in one platform.
The system includes a compliance tool, Crew360, which applies enhanced verification checks to all applications before documents are issued.
Physical documents will continue to be issued. However, all certificates will now include QR codes to ensure consistency between digital and paper records.
The Liberian Registry said the new platform is part of its broader digital transformation strategy, aimed at improving service quality and meeting evolving regulatory and operational requirements in the maritime sector.
