Port Authority of New York and New Jersey reports strong growth

Cargo activity at the Port of New York and New Jersey demonstrated solid momentum, with a 4.9% year-over-year increase in total cargo volume.
The port handled 4,417,282 TEUs from January through June 2025, marking a 20.9% surge over pre-pandemic levels in 2019. The port ranked as the second-busiest in the United States for loaded containers during both the month of June and the first half of the year, processing 2,945,962 loaded TEUs.
Meanwhile, traffic volumes across the agency’s bridges and tunnels remained consistent with 2024 figures and comparable to pre-pandemic 2019 levels, underscoring the ongoing recovery of regional mobility.
Despite ongoing global supply chain volatility, the Port of New York and New Jersey has maintained its robust performance, reinforcing its status as a critical hub for both passenger travel and cargo movement on the US East Coast.
