OceanScore reaches 2,300 vessels

More shipping companies turn to digital tools for EU ETS and FuelEU compliance

OceanScore has now signed over 2,300 vessels to its platform. The Hamburg-based company says the milestone reflects growing demand for simpler, smarter, and more transparent compliance with EU ETS and FuelEU Maritime regulations.

New clients include Anglo-Eastern, Eurotankers, Almi Marine, Eurobulk, Cetus Maritime, and Meiji Shipping. These companies operate across different segments but share a common goal: staying compliant without unnecessary complexity.

Focus on Efficiency and Transparency

”What connects our clients isn’t size or segment, it’s a desire for compliance solutions that actually support the way they work. They’re looking for efficiency, transparency, and better decision-making,” said Albrecht Grell, Managing Director, OceanScore.

OceanScore’s platform helps users streamline emissions tracking, automate invoicing, and create shared visibility between owners and charterers. Teams can view compliance data by vessel or voyage and plan ahead with real-time exposure metrics.

The system also includes OceanScore’s FuelEU Pooling Marketplace, which allows operators to trade surplus or deficit FuelEU positions under clear legal frameworks.

Pooling Marketplace Gains Momentum

Launched in June, the marketplace is already seeing traction. Buyers are moving early to lock in savings, while surplus providers are actively striking deals. The platform supports direct negotiations and allows for flexible or fixed volumes.

OceanScore reports that early deals are creating price visibility, with surplus credits now trading about 10% lower than initial offers.

“In many cases, pooling is more cost-effective than buying biofuels or paying FuelEU penalties,” said Grell. “Early movers are seeing the value, and the market is responding.”

A Growing Network, a Clearer Path

With more vessels on board, the OceanScore platform continues to gain depth. More data, more pooling options, and more active users are creating a stronger network effect.

“This growth isn’t just about numbers,” said Grell. “It’s about helping shipping companies take control, with clarity, confidence, and less friction.”
