GXO appoints two new board members

GXO Logistics has appointed Patrick Byrne and Michael Kneeland to its board of directors, effective immediately.

The move comes as part of a broader board refresh. Five new directors were elected in May. The board now includes ten members, nine of whom are independent. At the same time, Dr. Jason Papastavrou has stepped down from his role.

”With a new CEO set to take the helm next month, it’s been a natural time to refresh our board of directors. These changes reflect a proactive approach to board refreshment, ensuring a strong leadership team for GXO’s future,” stated Brad Jacobs, chairman, GXO.

Firstly, Byrne brings over 30 years of experience in digital and operational leadership. He previously led GE Digital as CEO and served as SVP of operational transformation at General Electric. He’s held executive roles at Fortive, Danaher, and Tektronix, and currently chairs both Diebold Nixdorf and Verra Mobility. He also served on the board of Micron Technology.

Kneeland is a well-known name in logistics and equipment rental. He chairs Gildan Activewear and United Rentals, where he spent 26 years, including a decade as CEO. Under his leadership, United Rentals grew through nearly $8 billion in acquisitions. He’s also held board seats at YRC Worldwide and Brinks Home Security.

The appointments reinforce GXO’s focus on technology and growth as it continues to lead in the contract logistics space.
