Wärtsilä agrees to divest Water and Waste business to Solix Group AB
Wärtsilä has agreed to divest its Water & Waste business to Swedish investment company Solix Group AB, as part of its ongoing portfolio transformation.
Water & Waste provides a broad range of environmental solutions covering the full spectrum of water and waste management at sea. Its portfolio includes ballast water treatment systems and wastewater solutions designed to support regulatory compliance, operational efficiency, and improved environmental performance throughout a vessel’s lifecycle.
Operating as part of Wärtsilä’s Portfolio Business, Water & Waste has functioned independently to accelerate performance improvements and unlock value through divestment. In 2025, the business generated annual revenue of EUR 54 million.
“Wärtsilä Water & Waste has developed a broad range of specialised and proven environmental solutions for marine. Building on our earlier collaboration with Solix, Water & Waste will be well positioned to develop further and ensure continued value creation for its customers and highly skilled team,” said Bernd Bertram, Head of Portfolio Business at Wärtsilä.
Subject to customary regulatory approvals, the transaction is expected to be completed in the third quarter of 2026. Upon completion, Wärtsilä will have finalized the divestment of all business units previously included within its Portfolio Business segment.
