Container fire on vessel at Singapore Terminal fully extinguished
A container fire aboard the vessel EVER LENIENT at PSA’s Pasir Panjang Terminal in Singapore has been fully extinguished, following intensive multi-agency firefighting operations that began after the incident was reported on 10 April 2026.
The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) was first alerted at around 3:00 pm on 10 April 2026 after a fire broke out in containers on board the vessel while it was berthed at the terminal. Emergency response teams were quickly deployed, including personnel from PSA Singapore, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF), and MPA patrol craft. SCDF also deployed vessels from its Marine Division to assist in firefighting efforts at sea.
All crew members were accounted for at the time of the incident, with no injuries reported and no oil pollution detected. Authorities also confirmed there was no disruption to overall port operations at Pasir Panjang Terminal, as safety measures were immediately implemented around the affected berth.
Firefighting operations continued through the night into 11 April, with SCDF leading efforts to bring the blaze under control. MPA supported the response by deploying patrol craft for seaward cordon duties and drones for aerial surveillance, helping coordinate suppression and safety monitoring activities.
By 11 April 2026, authorities confirmed that the fire had been extinguished. SCDF continues cooling operations to eliminate any remaining hotspots and prevent re-ignition.
PSA Singapore is now assisting with the safe discharge of the affected containers as part of ongoing recovery efforts, while ensuring that terminal operations remain unaffected.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Authorities have stated that further updates will be provided if significant developments arise.
