TecPlata launches shuttle service linking Argentina and Uruguay

TecPlata, the Buenos Aires terminal operated by International Container Terminal Services, has launched a new regular maritime service connecting the Port of La Plata in Argentina with the Port of Montevideo in Uruguay.
This new 3S Shuttle Service Solution was introduced in partnership with Independencia Shipping Lines offering the Argentine market an efficient alternative amid growing cargo volumes and infrastructure bottlenecks.
The service is operated by the ro-ro cargo vessel iNTREPiDO, which transports export cargo from TecPlata for transshipment in Montevideo enhancing regional logistics and easing pressure on traditional port infrastructure.
Juan Pablo Trujillo, CEO of TecPlata, commented that this initiative reflects a commitment to delivering competitive, tailored solutions in a changing trade environment.
Trujillo emphasized the importance of adaptability and market responsiveness, highlighting the collaboration with ISL as a strategic move to support the country’s evolving logistics needs.
ISL, for its part, underscored the challenges facing the Río de la Plata region. Many ocean-bound vessels bypass key ports particularly Buenos Aires due to draft limitations, leaving a substantial volume of containers in Montevideo for transshipment.
With the launch of this new service, TecPlata reinforces its role in supporting Argentina’s foreign trade by expanding market access, boosting operational efficiency, and enhancing the country’s global connectivity.
